#asknostr

Is there any way to host my own videos and pictures for #nostr that is easy for a simple minded guy like me to understand? I have heard of blossom servers but when I looked into it, it was way over my head. I run an #umbrel node. Is there an option that works with this setup that is easy for the less #tech minded individual?

I use satellite.earth and it has changed my nostr experience by an order of magnitude.

You gonto their sote and login with your nostr keys.

You pay a fee sats via lightning.

You can upload any media and copy a link afterwards.

You paste that link into nostr - done!

You could even choose them as your default media server in for example amethyst. Sou you coould directky upload from within the app.

I highly recommend it.

https://satellite.earth/

Here's an example:

The key words are "host my own." He's looking for a self-hosting option. Not one where his media is hosted by a third party.

Hmmm. Intriging. Cheaper than nostr build?

Does it strip metadata automatically?

Nextcloud is an option. I think there are Several one-click install actions on various platforms like start9 yunohost and umbrel.

I hope this becomes a thing when the long, long awaited OS update for Start9 occurs where clearnet server connections are supported.
