Ideally clients don't rely much on fast connections. I noticed that nostrudel kind of works even when my internet is down. I don't know to which extent it caches events I send to broadcast them when the internet is available again but it certainly lets me brows my timeline offline.
Are pictures fetched via tor too?
no, not unless your using the tor browser. this was just a test I was doing to see if tor was really that slow

How do you find those addresses? Can you paste those addresses into a note?
I don't remember but at one point I found a note where someone was collecting them
