I don’t believe that’s true, I think it would only degrade the security of a single dm conversation? Might be thinking of the cryptography incorrectly, got some sauce?

I was referring specifically to NIP-04. There's an open discussion and HRF bounty on replacing it.

nostr:npub1r7psmkr4zv93xnal8un6d8hvmpsn5jvhfzn3kk38rfcel6awznks7znspg you might be right about it not weakening your private key. I thought I read that somewhere but can't find it now. In any case, NIP-04 has so many other problems I won't be using it. I encourage everyone to do the same.
