Great day today! Last night I noticed a wet streak across the sidewalk. I opened the access cover to the water meter, and being in the NW there’s a housing around it buried 3’ down and it’s full of water. I had the water company out after I sump-pumped the water out and turned the water off. The water co. did a little digging around and of course it was my side of the valve, so the leak is my responsibility.

This morning I dug it down outside the meter housing and found the leak right at the coupling. That was pretty lucky because all I had to do was cut my waterline where it was cracked and work it back on to the barbed fitting. I have hose clamps, so I put a couple new one’s on and opened the valve. No leaks! No movement on the meter either, signifying success. I was done by 3:00! Wife called me a stud. Feels good to be a man and fix stuff.
