I mean, only an evil clown could've think of a plan to switch out humanity's store of value, a thing that is crucial to human flourishing, for an evaporating money.

Only an evil clown would spend decades, brainwashing humans that 'carbon' is bad and that releasing carbon dioxide into this carbon based planet is a sin, and to make that sin forgivable only by surrendering free will and money to the governments.

Only an evil clown would enjoy watching an entire race devolving, tearing down their own accomplishment to atone for the sins of existing.
