This is because in essence we are spirit and though connected to our true source we have layers of mind, matter, and illusion covering the soul. The soul always want to be back into the arm of the Oversoul but sense it has left or forgotten its true identity it feels lonely, sad, and uneasy.
In truth there is no loneliness as we are all One which is a an ocean of consciousness.
