I have often compared web of trust to flying machines. We either know how to make machines fly or we don’t. There isn’t much middle ground.

To continue the comparison: None of us have ever seen a functional WoT that actually flies — metaphorically speaking, of course. We’ve seen some people who can jump really high, and a few gliders, and maybe some hot air balloons. And some of these things are pretty cool. But bona fide flying machines? With combustion engines and propellers and wings and tail fins? Nope.

So I’m here to tell you that nostr is the Kitty Hawk for the web of trust. We cannot yet claim success. We have not yet flown anything for more than 12 seconds without crashing. But frens …. WE ARE ALL THE WRIGHT BROTHERS. To accomplish this feat is going to take ALL OF US working together: designers, developers, users, shitposters, lurkers. Content creators, bitcoiners, nocoiners, normies. This thing cannot succeed without everyone pulling together.

But once we figure it out, it’s going to be glorious. A whole new world of possibilities.

And we’re gonna win.

Upon a cursory glance at the memes around here, I’d say that’s a tall order to request that all of those groups get along.

Though I agree it will take a concerted effort on everyone’s part, success is ahead!

No need for them necessarily to get along I don’t think … just act in accordance with their nature.

For the Wright brothers to build and test their airplanes, they just needed their airplanes. But there’s no way to build and test WoT without all the moving parts in place. Including users!

Glad you’re farther ahead on the flying machine than the katana-wielding Ninja Turtle was when he drew this!!
