If it’s illegal, then there is a permanent record of a transaction having taken place (even if the record contains few details), which would never exist using cash. And if it’s KYC’d exchange Bitcoin, the record is tied to your identity.

If weed is legal where you live, it’s a somewhat different story… but unless you take significant privacy precautions, the record still exists to an extent. And the legal winds can always change direction.

You *should* be able to spend your Bitcoin wherever and whenever, within reason. But when there are legal gray areas, there are other considerations to keep in mind.
