Hero? No. He saw something that was illegal and immoral. His conscience and integrity demanded that he expose it to those it affects. It was something I'm appreciative of.

As for being in Russia... That wasn't where he was actually trying to go. That was on the way but the US flagged his passport. He eventually requested asylum. An individual embarrassed the most powerful empire in human history. If he would've stayed, he would've been disappeared.

Ok, I'm correcting what I said: he's just an idiot who left his country to demand more freedom in Russia. He did it as a sacrifice to show us things we already knew. He was very lucky to be given the opportunity to enjoy freedoms and rights in Russia because if he had fled to Ecuador, he would have been extradited.
