i have no problem with taylor swift as a rule, and i will address her new album tomorrow, but her behavior promoting the aggressive amplification of her new album on the back of a public event meant to celebrate work done, is rude and disrespectful to other artists drowned out by her rabid following. she deliberately did that. that's not her followers. and it's actions like that which cause awards ceremonies to be misused, as well as art and other artists taken for granted - by virtue of conquest and competition. awards are about genuine grace and acknowledgement. we need to remember why we celebrate culture instead of weaponising it. poor form on her part in my opinion.

the argument "she made a mistake" is hollow. when she did not have her apparatus to hide behind, in the moment she showed herself to be thoughtless and immature. she allows herself to be used and amplified into stratospheric popularity, especially to children. she has a responsibility to be conscious of that impact when her raw personality and behavior are on display. thoughtlessness in power is just as dangerous as deliberate malignancy. this is a lesson and an important one for the brigades of mindless followers.
