Very sad news coming out of South Africa this morning.
King Dark Mane of Madikwe was sadly euthanised due to becoming paralysed in his back. I was privileged enough to see him and his brother Blondie on my trip in Sep, sadly he leaves Blondie and many new cubs behind and very vulnerable.
RIP Dark Mane you were truly a magnificent King and no longer suffering in pain. 😭😭😭😭💔

How old is Blondie? Sounds to me he’s too young to take over the late Dark Mane’s pride 😔
Blondie is around 8 years old, he has been roaming and roaring looking for his brother the past week.
He is now on his own with the females and many new cubs, there are 2 nomadic young lions in the area looking and waiting for the opportunity to drive him out of kill him to take over this large pride.

😢 so sad. I heard about physiotherapy practiced on dog can be very sucessful. I assume they found no expert brave enogh ?
They were admitting medication for the past month but his back condition continued to deteriorate. There’s a video of him unable to get up as he back legs are completely paralysed, the only humane option was euthanasia.
