A small aside would be that it’d be nice to able to choose what section of the picture you want used as the banner (to help with taller pictures).

Ah, I see what you mean. Currently, our code only selects the first frame of the video for use as a banner image. However, we could add functionality to allow users to select which frame they would like to use as their banner image. Would that be helpful?
It wasn’t a video.
Say you have a picture that’s portrait styled. Right now it selects what section of the picture will be used for you, rather than letting you slide up/down/zoom in or out to get the desired section.

For now workaround is editing the banner outside of Damus in e.g. figma or any simple image cropping tool prior to uploading.
