I would argue it may help Russia. they now will not be helping Syria, funding Assad, training, etc...

I have a strong suspicion the (Alawite) SAA will fight for Latakia and Tartarus, where they have families and where the Russians are based. Russia could prop up a rump statelet there for quite a while if they wanted to.
I hope for peace, but I expect the usual.
I don't know enough to comment on this, I'll keep it in mind!
