Mainly because it's far from just social media, it's the Internet with social connections - there's music, marketplaces, streaming, all sorts, all available with the use of your #nostr keypair, meaning your profile and follows are with you which ever service or platform you choose to use. There's loads of other cool stuff, but that's the big draw from my perspective
