I made bacon.

I fried some eggs in the bacon fat.

Do you salt & pepper your bacon?

I have it as is. Already salty

More salt the better no?

I can understand pepper since there’s none on it

I gotta live that salt life

Do you add some sea salt or just regular table salt?

Blend of pink Himalayan and Celtic sea salt

Never tried pink Himalayan.

I read recently that iodine deficiency is coming back. Sounds crazy to me. I guess people thought salt was bad for them 🤷🏾

It’s good stuff…

Well when the doctors are tell you to use less salt…

100% the doctors and the food industry selling everything with less salt.

First thing i do in the morning is have a glass of sole water.

I add a little bit of salt to the water I drink during training. I do this first thing in the morning

That’s why you can do lateral raises the way you do. 💪

🤣🤣💪

No extra salt, plus Tabasco

I should make my own Tabasco sauce

Hmm. I recently learned the history of it. Quite interesting. Takes a long time to make too. Probably you could get close though

Low time preference on making food at home here

Indeed. Willing to wait 2 years for vanilla 🤯

I'm going to make some btw

Nice… it’s definitely worth it… it’s easy to go overboard…

Mason jars, vodka you mentioned, double fold is the plan

I highly suggest you read this first…

https://indrivanilla.com/pages/how-to-make-vanilla-extract

As the info given was only an example.

Also this is the first time we’ve done that blend of beans & vodka…

Okey dokey. Thanks, will definitely have a read before doing. I'll let you know what we end up going with

Awesome I hope you enjoy what you make!

Let you know in two years 😢

You can always make paste first

Buy nilla though the co op too

Have a fancy spice store I figure will do. Madagascar sounds good. The link you gave didn't specify what technique to use, but from other thing I read thinking simply slice bean and submerge at room temp, shake once a week or so, 6-12 months it's usable.

You'd mentioned possibly starting with making paste, but gonna keep it simple (and maybe better tasting way?).

Can’t see it?

? Referring to the other link you just sent?

No what ever you posted in that note

Oh, it's a Larry David "spite store" gif. Made me laugh after I wrote "spice store"

Oh I think the steps are via another link on this, which takes me to a private Facebook group which I can't view

You should be able to find if if you just google Alex green vanilla paste recipe

How much would you say you spend or how many beans go in 8 oz? I paid 25 for three big beans. Asked the person to weigh and it was like .35oz only! Directions call for 1oz minimum!! Am I missing something?

We generally pay like $5-$7 an once though the co op

Wow, ok. Thats 10x cheaper lol. Maybe I'll start with small batch and these hopefully magic beans I got swindled into buying.

I dont know of this coop you speak of. I'll ask around at farmers market and see what's possible. Thanks, looking forward to following up in half a year or more to share results!

It was part of the website I previously sent you…

https://indrivanilla.com/pages/group-resources-new

Ah, missed that somehow. Thought you were just talking casually about your local coop

Oh I wish they were local to me…

Also some vanilla beans are much more expensive than others…

This is the dark blend we just put in booze… it’s 4oz of beans and was like $40 shipped… the co op has a try at il site but that’s not where I order from… we but into a preorder so we get cheaper prices before they offer it on the retail store…

Wow! With prices that I was seeing I was beginning to understand wars over spice.

I'll have to find a cheaper option for sure.

How can I Grow vanilla beans

Um good luck… it’s really labor intensive as you have to hand pollinate the flowers

… dam… you’re right… no way I could eject

sperm hard enough to cross pollinate

I believe they are a type of orchid as well

I read a story about the orchids and I believe they referred to the vanilla bean as well… and some shit about poison and or invasive species… I don’t know.

But really tell me you don’t want to pollinate that!!

As is but pepper would be good

Have you ever tried wild Madagascar pepper?

I don’t think so. How is it different?

Much different flavor profile…

It’s like the difference between beef & venison, or elk

I’ll will get some to try.
