Gold is junk.

We collectively intuited this sometime over the past 100 years after material science gave us #10 steel, A380 aluminum and ABS plastic. After credit cards gave us payments verbally or with touchtone over the phone, the very thought of returning to physical gold became ludicrious.

Sure, have some on hand as an insurance policy, but good luck traveling with it.
