Some popular clients don't offer long-form and don't display them to their users, so posting in long-form immediately cuts your audience down, dramatically.
I try to get around that by posting a Kind 01 note with a link to the article.

yeah, I added a flow to share a kind:1 note with a link and an opengraph image after publishing/scheduling a long form on nostr:npub1w0rthyjyp2f5gful0gm2500pwyxfrx93a85289xdz0sd6hyef33sh2cu4x for this reason.
It also publishes the opengraph image to your Blossom server and publishes a kind:1063 media image to go with it 😅
