I have around 800 nostr followers. I think all but 20 are either bots or dead accounts. Or maybe they muted me and forgot to unfollow. That last option is highly likely.

Follow numbers on Nostr don’t mean anything, they can be faked easily, nothing is required to create a few million random accounts and make them follow any npub
but what's the point of that.
The numbers have never made sense to me. It amazes me how little engagement users with high follower counts receive... nice to see responses to this post.
Unfollow everyone and your problem is solved
