Oopsy heifer calf. Glad it didn't come last week when it was so cold. It's our first obligate A2A2 heifer calf. We haven't had the numbers to separate out our bull being the first year with the bull was last year. I forget the dam's DOB but pretty sure she's about 1.5 years old, so she went into heat pretty young.
The wife decided to get a bit too close and the calf went running over the neighbors hill. Another neighbor happened to have stopped in and helped find her in the woods. I have no desire to be chasing calves which is pretty common for the first week so they'll just hang out in the barn a while and get acquainted. Maybe it'll encourage the training necessary to finally start milking around here.
