I do that. Just wish that I could stop them before they dm me.

Mute, block, report (if on amythist) them individually + disable mutual relays for dms

You can block hashtags or keywords, too, in certain clients.

Mute them, but it's not 100% effective

You get spam or grifter dms? How the fuck are you so controversial? Post some screenshots I want to see what they say.
