Wondering weather to switch to #Octopus energy #Agile tariff.

This would enable access to occasional negative prices (but increasingly more frequent as the grid decarbonizes).

Why not? Better #market!

At the moment (for a residendetial connection)

It's a no brainer.

Day 28p/kWh 5:30-23:30

Night 7p\kWh 23:30-5:30

Timers all set , I don't have to think.

Switching to Agile means juggling cars, house #batteries, timers etc for and hour then juggling them all back again with only 18hour's notice, and being around to do it.

What we need is a #grid signal (price?) of when to charge or use #electricity with batteries-inverters that can interpret that signal combine with weather report and remind the humans to plug in \ switch on to take advantage.

I can recommend it, I like my exchange-based tariff very much (Awattar in Austria). I think it's fun to save by moving your load (dishwasher, EV) off-peak. Financially it makes most sense when you have an EV and are quite flexible when to charge. Last month I managed to have a average price of EUR 0,0418 (EV+house).

Another recommendation for aWATTar, off peak laundry and charging make sense, more so with automated scheduling.

Mid and long term their recent sellout to tado makes me weary, it apparently helped with expanding the service to other EU member states, time will tell.
