Every week, I respond to some of the most common Bitcoin FUD.

This weekโ€™s FUD:

Concern over this is understandable, but I will show you that not only is this unlikely, but even if it is true, itโ€™s entirely ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜.

Read on to see what I mean

This FUD comes from several pieces of circumstantial evidence, but mainly these 3:

1. An individual named Tatsuaki Okamoto was referenced 3 times in a 1996 NSA document about using cryptography in anonymous electronic cash.

2. In 2001, the NSA invented SHA-256, the algorithm used in Bitcoin today.

3. The name โ€œSatoshi Nakamotoโ€ can be loosely translated to mean โ€œcentral intelligenceโ€, as in the ๐˜Š๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ Agency (CIA).

While those are ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜บ true, they arenโ€™t hard evidence that either the NSA or the CIA were behind Bitcoinโ€™s initial development. Theyโ€™re interesting points to consider, but not ๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง.

If the NSA, the CIA, or any other government agency really ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ start Bitcoin in order to enslave humanity under the stateโ€™s control, then their plan backfired ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜บ.

Bitcoin is open source, so anyone can inspect the protocol to verify how Bitcoin works, and run it on their own device. There is no central coordinator, so everyone is free to choose the software that they want to run.

Additionally, extra privacy measures have since been invented that make it nearly impossible for anyone to track your transactions. The government can ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜บ to spy on everyoneโ€™s bitcoin activity, but with all the privacy best practices (CoinJoins, never using the same address twice, the Lightning Network, etc), theyโ€™re going to have a hard time.

Ultimately, it doesnโ€™t matter whether the NSA/CIA created Bitcoin or not. The protocol is in ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ hands, itโ€™s fully audited every ~10 minutes by ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ node (if you run one), and if you know how to use Bitcoin privately, only ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ have a record of your own transactions.

And thatโ€™s what #Bitcoin is all about: ๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—บ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ด๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช.

What do you think of ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต answer?

Was that a good response to the FUD?

Give this a ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฒโค๏ธ And make sure you ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐Ÿ”– this, too!

Seen anyone spreading this FUD around?

๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐Ÿ”„ this with them!

Can you think of a better answer?

Put it in the

I had already read about this theory and it is quite interesting.

I agree that who started it is not really very important considering that in the end it was built by several people around the world who read and edited the code until it was what it is today.

After this, several experts around the world continued and continue to look for serious flaws and so far nothing.

And it could even have been an NSA project, just like what happened with Snowden, it is very likely that someone inside leaked the project on purpose before it was built in another way.
