as a young man two decades ago, i began the search for significance & meaning in my life outside myself, pursuing everything with ferocity in everything from podium finishes in marathons & ultramarathons, writing novels, relationships, booze, and hobbies.

But all the achievements and pursuits, noble or not, failed to satisfy. I finally realized i would never feel satisfied with anything external to me.

a little over five years ago i began a search for significance and meaning inside myself, calling on my inner teacher, and pursuing truth and true peace. This search within myself is the real search, the real experience, the real journey we must all undertake, whether in this life or a thousand lifetimes from now. This inner peace obtained from the journey within gives me unspeakable happiness and joy. i found the significance and meaning i was looking for, but in the last place i had expected to find it as a young man.
