You use a software to find a npub with some specific characters.

Just for vanity?

It is a way to apply proof of work to a pubkey. This is supposed to help determine that you are not a bot for example.

This makes a lot of sense, I didn’t even think about this when making my npub… welp too late now

This is a good idea

I think the future is in URLs that redirect to npubs

- provide social proof

- easier to say/write

adamobrien.ca/nostr for example

It's a good idea, I keep it for my endless drawer of ideas for nostr 😀😀

Look at my npub. It has been mined with [rana](https://github.com/grunch/rana)

Ok qqqqq seem cool

I think it’s the process of creating custom public keys (that contain certain characters for example)

You want to create custom public key (contain your name, initial, ... etc).

But the difficult part is creating the keypair. You need a private key that work with public key you want.

So, now, your computer need to do:

1. Find the key pair

2. The public key must contain a substring you want.
