Daily Roman History:

Emperor Hadrian, third of the so called "Five Good Emperors", considered himself quite the polymath. Of particular interest to him was architecture, several of his projects remain until this day, such as the rebuilt Patheon in Rome, as well as his mausoleum. From this interest developed a rivalry of sorts with his imperial predecessors chief architect, Apollodorus of Damascus. This rivalry came to a head after Hardrian was crowned Emperor and showed Apollodorus his personal designs for a Temple of Venus and Roma, thinking to show Apollodorus he was no longer needed. Instead, the desogn was harshly critized for its scale, direction relative to the Sun, and "the statues being too big that if they wished to get up and walk around they would bump their head on the ceiling". For his impunity Apollodorus was exiled and shortly after executed.
