I would think that the argument is that since roughly 200,000 of us (I believe that's how many unique keys we have on Nostr?) are here on the ground floor, we who chose to expand our relay options are grandfathered in? It's a slippery slope to end up like Twitter with a monthly subscription to relays. A fraction of us pay for relays and use them to my understanding. So maybe a quarterly resubscription with a higher sat value or get turned to read-only mode?
