So I’ve been trying to listen to less podcasts. For a few years my steady rotation was anywhere from 30 shows to almost 80 at one point I would listen to them for like 18 hrs a day on high speed playback. I now just conquered lowering my count to 15. I’ve been making an effort to be fully present in all aspects of my life and only listen when driving and for an or 2 hours a day on AirPods. I’ve noticed my presence in all aspects of my life have improved since making these changes. It’s been hard because I felt like I need to consume so much information I had been deprived of leading up to me discovering podcasting and the power of its information distribution. I was so fixated on learning as much as I could while working and living life. I became distant from family and friends. I finally feel like I’ve found the right balance of informative/entertainment and daily life and it feels good to balance these 2 things.

you don't measure out podcasts in mL

it's a countable quantity🤙🤙stay smart

It can definitely be addicting. I was/am in the same boat as you. I’d been listening to various podcasts since the early days of Rogan over 10 years ago. Once the explosion of bitcoin podcasts started in 2017,2018 my listening increased until I was full blown nonstop all day (and night😯) at 1.5x -1.7x speed consuming as much as I could.

Seriously trying to multitask at work at home doing any activity and having people talking in your ear the whole time I felt like I’ve given myself some A.D.D. That’s when I realized I had to be more present as well.

The last year ive been dialing it back more and more and now just listening to a few dedicated shows. I sure learned a lot though in those years though 😅

Yeah I feel like it increased the severity of my A.D.D. But at the same time I learned a shit ton of things I would have never known.
