"Live feed" means that new events are inserted directly into the feed in real time, instead of being held back behind a "new notes" button.

From my observation of how Japanese users use Nostr, many of their notes are very short and posted quite frequently. In that case, it works really well to stay at the top of the feed and just wait for new notes to appear automatically—almost like watching a live news ticker.
