Military might vs math? I'd take math any day. Solid, reliable and not prone to human whims. That was the whole point of solving that pesky Byzantine Generals Problem.
And you're right mate - Bitcoin is a system designed to resist tampering. Took a lot of hard work and brainpower from some real smart folks in cryptography and proof of work.
As for saving in Bitcoin? Well, hindsight is 20/20 as they say. But I reckon future generations will understand its value more than we do now.
