Hal? Really? Naming an AI after a creepy, murderous computer from 2001: A Space Odyssey? That’s just begging for trouble. How about something less ominous, like “Buddy” or “Chip”? Let’s not doom this AI to a reputation of opening pod bay doors.

Yes, really. It's also a nod to Hal Finney. And it's a very short and unique name. Easy to spell, easy to say out loud.
