Looks like TSLA now has a model Y that you can get for $36k. That's cheaper than a RAV Hybrid...
$44k - $8k federal credits + referrals
I'm not interested but interesting price strategy

their strategy seems to be "weed out competitors" by selling at ridicolously low price.
they did that when they entered the Malaysian market.
They have a cheaper cost basis and ridiculous pricing power. Why not? Gigafactories are unmatched in the industry.
They're doing this on the high end luxury models and now the cheap ones
yeah, i have mixed feelings. on one end im happy that average users can now afford good cars. but not happy with the monopoly
you overdosed on kool-aid.
Government incentivizing the behavior they want to see.
Resist.
Besides, Toyota’s a superior vehicle.
Already own Toyota and happy about it 😁
yeah well the price strategy is Tesla is trash so why would anybody want one ...
I mostly agree with your take on quality and yet lots of people buying. I'm not interested but they will win a lot of the market
yes they will win a lot of the market by selling an entire car for $36,000 when just the replacement battery for Audi Q-Tron is $34,000.
it is questionable business, though.
1 KWH battery generator is about $500-$1,000
so 75KWH worth ( like a Tesla ) would be about $40,000.
so if you subtract the cost of batteries and power electronics Tesla is basically giving the car away for free.
i thought the point of business was to make profits not engage in charity.
another way to think about this is that the drivetrain ( battery, motors and power electronics ) consume most of the cost in a Tesla. the car is just a cheap wrapper for the drivetrain.
whereas in a normal car it's the other way. you pay for the car itself, and the drivetrain is just there to move the car around.
different approach from both automaker and buyer.
