I hope so. My wife is colombian and is rather pesimistic since the new president was an active gerillero. So she is anxious that he will use the peace to empower these non-government groups he made peace with, which could may swing back when they are not happy with reforms. But I also tend to be optimistically.
Your wife's point of view is understandable. I have Colombian friends who think the same because they have experienced the horror of the guerrillas directly or indirectly. The process must continue and learning from all parties is necessary to have a common and peaceful future.
