really enjoying this 1949 Schaeffer Statesman. Ordered some new ink colors the other day, and some pads of paper. excited for them to arrive. 😃 #oldschool #ink #fountainpens

Very cool pen! I got into fountain pens recently, and picked up this Sailor 1911S "A Pirate's Life."

#[3] thats gorgeous. :D it's amazing to me how much schaeffer's design principles and aestetics have influenced the... entire pen industry. this looks so much like a schaeffer balance. look it up if you dont know it, you'll be amazed.

how's it write ?

It's a 14K gold nib. It writes pretty smooth considering it's an EF nib.

I've never had an EF, had a few F, but always seem to prefer medium. through and through. LOL. The one thing I've always loved about fountains is how much ink they put down, and when they don't I feel as though it's a gyp of some sort. 😄

I find that F and EF can be scratchy if the paper quality is bad.

always use good paper.. be a stickler about that. your pens will thank you. nothing worse than a clogged nib full of paper fibers..

These were my starter pens before I got the Sailor. Amazon Basics F, and Hong Dian Forest EF.

then you're definitely enjoying the sailor. right on. how was the amazon one, out of sheer unbridled curiosity?

I was very impressed by it. Would recommend it as a first fountain pen.

Ink pens 🤍, use to be compulsory in our Arabic classes.

where are you from ethnically? yeah we didn't have arabic offered in school, i would have taken it if we did. :)
