Nostr does not need to be mainstream. Usenet and xmpp are still very active and alive.

All nostr needs is an obsessive community and data hoarders that is willing to pay, support and improve it in response to changing technology.

Entenched obscurity is actually very usefull for Archives. Look at the Vatican hidden libraries.
