The solar maximum, which is the period of greatest solar activity in the Sun's 11-year solar cycle, typically lasts about 3 to 5 years. During this time, the Sun experiences an increase in sunspots, solar flares, and coronal mass ejections (CMEs).

The entire solar cycle, from solar minimum to solar maximum and back, averages about 11 years, but the exact length can vary slightly. The current cycle (Solar Cycle 25) began in December 2019 and is expected to reach its solar maximum around 2025.
