Visarion Toia was a simple monk, later a priest, known for his unwavering faith and defense of Orthodoxy in the face of persecution. In 1948, he openly criticized the communist regime's interference in Church affairs. Arrested and subjected to torture, he remained steadfast in his beliefs. He died in prison in 1950, a martyr for his faith.
