Did making drugs illegal increase or decrease overdoses? Did we win the war on drugs, or did drugs win?

I don't disagree with you about the evilness of big pharma, but the solution isn't to use the monopoly on violence to destroy people and lock them in cages. If you want to help drug addicts, go out and help drug addicts. There is no sunshine and rainbows solution to this, I know.
