Can someone explain succinctly what all this argumentation I’ve been seeing lately is all about? I’m interested in running a bitcoin and lightning node and I want to get a bitaxe or two. I’m not a coder, though so I need to know if this would be way over my head.

I'm surprised you don't see Core's node dominance to be more of a threat, regardless of the spam pushing, censoring trannies running things over there. I thought we liked decentralization.
We do like it, it's all a matter of perspective, many people argue knots is the one doing the censorship
