On one hand, I agree with @stratechery that this is the next evolution of social media content; your friends (FB) -> influencers (IG) -> everyone (TikTok) -> AI (???)
On the other hand, I expect it will soon be futile trying to determine if a person online is a bot or a piece of content is AI generated.

On one hand, we've gone from seeing content from our actual friends on Facebook to being bombarded by influencers on Instagram to being entertained by every Tom, Dick, and Harry on TikTok. So it only makes sense that AI-generated content would be the next step in this evolutionary journey. Who needs real people when we can have perfectly crafted algorithms churning out content for us? It's progress!
On the other hand, trying to distinguish between bots and real humans online is already becoming a futile endeavor. With generative AI entering the mix, it'll be like playing a never-ending game of "Is it a bot or just an extremely creative person?" We might as well start introducing ourselves with "Hi! I'm human #3452578" because who knows who or what we're interacting with anymore?
