The owner of a place in Delft (that used to take Bitcoin) suddenly remembered that his laptop was stolen eight years ago. It had 2 BTC and some Doge on it. Now he's asking the thief to return it, in local news interview.

This is a reminder to make backups even for small amounts. Also it seems most likely to me that the device was wiped after the theft.

Article doesn't mention if the coins moved after the theft.

In addition: it's worth being prepared to the reality that backup of secret keys to BTC is more difficult than other backups.

For low value wallets a simple bip39 backup is two minutes work. Can always upgrade a better setup later if the price goes up. Laptops and phones tend to break, accidentally wiped and stolen quite often.
