This week I've been working on a Python script that uses RSS feeds to scrape news stories, summarizes articles, generates the overview intro, adds music to the beginning and end, generates the speech of the host and also produces a text transcript. 😃

Here is my first (not terrible) episode. Lol it took a lot of work to get it this far. And it is what it is right now. It could be improved still.

I'm going to call this political podcast "The Right View".

The cover is intended to be a bit satirical.

Here are some features it has already:

- RSS feed for articles

- Overused word black list

- Customisable writing style or "voice"

- Customizable "tags" to focus story picks

- Story count limiter

- Introduction and episode highlights

- automatic audio stitching

- intro and outro music

- article and title summarization and commentary

- lots of error logging

- final podcast transcript generation

Here are some final additional features I'm still trying to get working:

- better environment for the word black list

- a "covered articles" log to keep from covering the same story on a different episode

- automatic epusode details and meta data generation

- automated push to podcast hosting service

- an orchestration script that will execute the scripts in order with a server cron job
