And the next question, what is emotion, can we emulate it?
These things make me reflect on the meaning of it all, are we biological machines? Or is there something else?

it set of one It's a tough one😂, It can be both:
First I think it is Consciousness which is difficult to describe biologically, and there's also a societal aspect where we assign meaning to certain activities.
As for emulation, it's an interesting question. Perhaps our evolution can't keep up with the rapid development, and maybe the next evolution of art and intelligence could be artificial, created by human-made artificial intelligence.
I find this thought process fascinating.
I have read some things regarding the behaviour of the human brain and I am somewhat disappointed with all the chemistry and the underlying character it has with our decisions, it is sad but everything seems to indicate that we are biological machines, cause and effect, nothing else, there is no free will. Consciousness or soul is a human construct, we are totally predictable with the enough information.
One of my favourite novel is “Altered Carbon” trilogy, I like it very much because it delves into the concept of the soul and transcending the biological body.
I've already got philosophical, sorry 😅
What you are arguing makes complete science special on a larger scale when we understand this universe, the solar system, and even the reason everything is based on probability.
However, I still remain very cautious regarding consciousness because there are numerous books attempting to explain it, which is how one can discern that nobody truly knows the definitive answer.
