Considering getting a motorcycle w/sidecar to take my dog on a central american adventure, but I've never driven with a sidecar.

How do you like it? Do you recommend it?

It’s great, especially driving it on two wheels, the local workers like that haha!

This type is not too heavy, super cheap & made from mainly rebar. Got one permanently attached to my old 125cc automatic Suzuki (well, gotta get that 12mm nut instead of rope)

When it comes to safety it important to get used to the asymmetry of it all, you just can’t afford to get it wrong at all if anything happens!

Some people fear it and believe it is super dangerous, as with many things that require good routines & especially building new reflexes.

I guess driving trams through inner city chaos in the nineties still is a huge help in my case, we had 4 distinct types with 3 totally, completely different ways of operating them! We’re talking arms and legs in almost opposite patterns here haha

There are also trailers, but I’d guess that they can be even more dangerous for many, since you won’t think through what might happen in a pinch, just too easy to drive really…

Yeah I considered a trailer for some camping equipment but I wouldn't want to put the dog in the direct exhaust path

I've been looking at bike+sidecar options. Hopefully I'll get the chance to test drive one before I have to commit.

If you can get a largish bike with a light sidecar there should be no problem?

But do set aside some time to get used to it, including playing around in a parking lot or a plain :-)
