I do partly think there is an element of self-sabotage, maybe some people would like nostr to remain a telegram (b!tcoin) group?

Or course there is. From a purely technical point of view we are not remotely ready for lots of users joining the network. From a cultural point of view there's too much beet coin maximalism which scares people away, even when they are philosophically aligned with nostr values.

Keeps the network niche and is hostile to many people that share the same values but not maximalism.

Not sure anyone is saying it's 'wrong' but the recurring, most concerning complaint about nostr is that it is a b!tcoin chatroom, which it sort of is and hasn't really made any moves outside of (so far, perhaps never will?)
