I asked my former landlord about working offshore, since he used to work offshore. His reply:

"Who? You?! Forget it! You'll never get a job offshore."

He isn't a very nice guy, but he probably has reasons for saying that. My guess is that there are physical requirements I can't ever satisfy, even if I was only working there as a cook or engineer, and not a drill operator. Similar to ship crew physical requirements, I'm assuming.

unfortunately yes. to work offshore you need to be extremely fit physically and medically
