in high school - I was first student to fight for ASL being considered my second language. I had a deaf friend and wanted to learn to communicate with her. My high school counselor wanted me to take french or spanish. I won the fight, learned ASL and eventually tried being an interpret - wow what a tough job - mad respect for those who do the job
