In Technofeudalism the author discusses this and proposed a solution: that all politicians are allocated via a random selection from the people (similar to a jury selection). So rather than political parties we have Citizen Assemblies.
Maximum 4 year terms. No political parties. Less graft as not embedded in the political structures. Potentially less people who seek power.
I’m not sure how that would play out in practice but it was an interesting concept to consider.
Systems that incentivize unethical action produce corrupt leaders. A system that rewards productive action will produce leaders who are legitimate heroes. And we will be proud of them, and respect them the way leaders are meant to be respected.
