GM #nostr it's Wednesday, we're at the halfway point. Make it count! πŸ‘πŸΎ

Some companies are requiring their employees to return back to the office 5 days/week.

The justification usually goes something like "we're better together" or "productivity declines". Both reasons are nonsense.

Look deep enough you'll find It's bc their company has a vested interest in the commercial real estate (office) space and that market is getting a shellacking right now.

So they've essentially converted their employees into part of their stimulation bailout package. #BigBankShannanigans

That's my story & I'm sticking with it. Convince me otherwise.

Have a great day friends.

I disagree.

A workplace is more productive and enjoys better culture when everyone is in-office. You can find the people you need to talk to immediately. You can actually enjoy and have community in the space that you spend the majority of your meaningful waking hours.

Work is not supposed to be just a thing you do to make money. If that's you're way of seeing it, you're either in the wrong field or have the wrong orientation toward life.

Work is missional. First, in your pursuit of personal goals if the work itself is not ideal. Second, in itself as a manifestation of a vision once one becomes self-employed or committed to an enterprise usually (hopefully) later in career.

I get your points. I'm sure there are many that would agree with you.

In some cases "together IS better".

But I don't believe for a second that's why the big Banks want their employees back in the office 5 days a week.

I think if you fast forward 10 years from now, the only situations that will have an in-person in office job requirement, actually need to have it.
