Push notifications are a point of centralization. Would require a server controlled by your client that maps a push token to your npub, then would need to connect to all the relays associated to your npub, fetch notes, parse, and generate notifications. Maybe clients will offer this as a service at some point?

I also mostly don’t want push notifications for my social media. I’ve had them turned off on all my social apps for years. The only catch is DMs. I’d be open to push notifications for those.
