does it mean the futures will not be “resolved” at the original due date time? Will the renew do an extension of the original contract without a potential loss of a failed futures at the original due date time?

Yes, the existing future will be extended to a new due date. There will be a funding rate due to keep the position open, but beside that there are no changes to the original terms
